Sherwin Williams has released the ever-anticipated Colormix Forecast with their selection of top trending paint colors for 2023.
Composed of 40 colors across four palettes, Terra by Sherwin Williams is described as romantic and heritage, with a double dose of comfort. While last year’s colors were bold and earthy, this year’s collection builds off of that with more subtle tones mixed in, "inspired by the natural interweaving of ourselves and our spaces." Featuring a mix of rich warmth and comfy neutrals, these colors are classically traditional tones that never go out of style so you're sure to find one (or more!) that suits your personal style and current home design.
Whether you’re working on a full home remodel or just want to freshen up your aesthetic in a few rooms, adding one of these stylish paint colors is an amazing way to turn up your design. Plus, painting is one of the easiest home projects, so let’s get the hard part over with and pick which hue is right for you! To help you narrow it down, here are our top 10 picks from the 2023 Sherwin Williams Colormix Forecast.
Poetry Plum
The perfect shade for the fall and throughout the entire holiday season, plum is rich, inviting, and romantic. Within the purple family, plum’s complimentary color is green so it’s great for mixing and matching with plants and other natural greenery in your home.
We suggest working in Pottery Plum for your living room or bedroom to make your cozy spaces even cozier!
Natural Linen
The ultimate warm neutral, natural linen is the perfect choice anywhere within your home. Stark white walls are on their way out, and natural colors and textures are back in. Extremely versatile, Natural Linen will have more of an impact in your space than white or cream, but will still allow a room to feel bright and airy.
Consider using Natural Linen in your bathrooms or kitchen and build out an aesthetic that uses more textures and mixed metals for the other small details.
Restrained Gold
The name says it all! This golden yellow isn’t loud and in your face - it’s calm, discreet, and simply tasteful. Yellow is always a great color to grab if you’re looking to brighten up a room that doesn’t get a lot of sunshine, so if you’ve got a space with few windows and little natural light, Restrained Gold is the perfect pick!
Darkroom
Dark Room is officially THE Color of the Year, and personally, we’re in love. Elegant, comfortable, and romantically retro, this throwback is bold yet comfortable. The moody hue creates dimension among the many neutral tones that are trending right now, and pairs perfectly with everything in the 2023 Colormix Forecast.
We think this alluring tone would be a great fit anywhere in your home, but is especially fitting for a home office, study, or library.
Cool Beige
Forget the blah reputation that beige once had and embrace the earthy, nurturing elements of this natural tone. Much more soothing than a cool gray, Cool Beige is the perfect earthy pigment to give your interiors a cozier backdrop.
When it comes to decorating with beige, it’s all about mixing and matching plenty of textures so your room never becomes boring. Mixing in knit blankets or pillows, natural grasses, stone vases, and wood furniture will complete any look with a beige base.
Austere Gray
Heading into a hint of green, Austere Gray is the perfect bridge from neutral back into colorful. Soothing and calm, this subtle hue matches perfectly with all the natural materials like stone, quartz, marble, wood, and wicker that we’re seeing in the trendiest home designs today.
Pewter Green
Brilliantly complimenting the Pottery Plum we started with, Pewter Green is a fun color to incorporate into your home - especially for your kitchen cabinets. The deep, saturated, and almost milky color will bring warmth to your kitchen without overpowering, and it matches great with matte black or gold hardware. Don’t be afraid to mix and match metals with this gorgeous shade!
Glamour
This dusty pink color is bright yet delicate, adding a great feminine touch to your home's color palette. Blending seamlessly with the beiges and subtle green tones in the rest of the collection, Glamour is the perfect pop of color for a bedroom or living room.
Wall Street
If you’re just starting to transition your home away from cool grays to warmer traditional tones, Wall Street is a great place to start. Less dramatic than Dark Room but still bold, this granite-colored gray will blend perfectly with all of the natural elements and neutral tones you want to add to your home to amp up your personal style.
Hot Cocoa
Finally, we can’t help but want to cozy up with this warm, chocolatey tone. Infused with a hint of pink and terracotta, Hot Cocoa is sure to turn just about any room in your house into your warm, go-to spot to relax.
